Sequencer Setup

Start respective GUIs:

  • Aramis Synoptics panel
  • EVR experiment panel
  • Sequencer (via Pulse Picker/PP -> PP expert -> CTA sequencer) and
  • Timing tools -> EVR experiment

The EVR setup allows us to use 16 different pulse generators and connect them to either the front or rear outputs of the EVR.

EVR_experiment

To connect the respective pulse source to an output select the pulse source in the upper dropdown selector in the respective output. The color of the output then matches the color of the pulse source.

CTA

Using the CTA gui (start_cta_gui.sh ESC SAR-CCTA-ESC) we can define a sequence of events which the event receiver processes: CTA

Here the offset is respective to the start of the sequence and corresponds to each FEL pulse.

The divisor should be 100 by default to match all acquisition frequencies (100 Hz, 50 Hz, 25 Hz, 10 Hz and below).

All documents are in the project folder \\fs00\swissfel_cristall\operation\manuals\timing_system.

Timing system

Event receiver:

Event receiver manual: http://mrf.fi/fw/DCManual-191127.pdf

Change event rate

To change the rate of an event of the timing system, for example ESC detector event #77 to 50 Hz:

(base) [gac-cristall] ~ $ caput SIN-TIMAST-TMA:Evt-77-Freq-SP 50
SIN-TIMAST-TMA:Evt-77-Freq-SP 50.00 Hz

See also panel from the Timing and synchronization expert launcher under Timing and event system > Event system (bash -c 'caqtdm -noMsg -stylefile sfop.qss S_TMA_Overview.ui')

Remarks:

In theory we should not have the general permission to change events Event 78 is “ESC experiment”, to be found out how it is used / can be used.

The CTA python library now works with modern python versions (>3.7) and we integrated it into SLIC.
