!!! warning
The available/provided versions of Mathematica only works on RHEL9 and above.
Currently Mathematica cannot be installed via RPM packages, but only manually via the binary installer. The installers can be downloaded from the following URL:
https://repos.psi.ch/binary-installers/mathematica/
The installation can be performed by running the following commands in the terminal:
```bash
curl -L -O https://repos.psi.ch/binary-installers/mathematica/Mathematica_14.0.0_LINUX.sh
chmod +x Mathematica_14.0.0_LINUX.sh
./Mathematica_14.0.0_LINUX.sh
```
Afterwards you will be prompted to select the installation directory. By default, it will be installed in `/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/14.0`, but you can choose a different location. It is recommended to install Mathematica into `/opt/mathematica/<version>`.
```bash
WolframScript allows Wolfram Language code to be run from the command
line and from self-executing script files. It is always available from
/opt/mathematica/14.0/Executables/wolframscript. WolframScript system
integration makes the wolframscript binary accessible from any terminal,
and allows .wls script files to be executed by double-clicking them in the
file manager.
One the installation is complete you can launch Mathematica by running the `mathematica` command in the terminal or by launching it from the application menu.
## License Activation
Mathematica requires a valid license to run. Therefore you need to configure the license server of PSI. This can be done as follows:
1. Launch Mathematica (Following dialog will appear on the first launch)
2. Click on "Other ways to activate" and then select "Activate through a Wolfram network license server"
3. Enter the following license server address: __lic‐mathcad.psi.ch__
4. Acknowledge the license agreement and click on "Ok". Mathematica should now be activated and ready to use.
