The main diffraction QGraphicsView enabled SmoothPixmapTransform, which bilinearly resamples the full detector pixmap on every repaint. For a pixel-detector image nearest-neighbour is both cheaper and preferable (pixels stay crisp when zoomed in instead of blurring), and it removes a per-repaint resampling cost that is felt most over remote X forwarding, where every repaint ships rasterised pixels over the wire.
