(Manual) SMB Mounts
Sometime you want to manually mount an SMB filesystem with an different user. This can be done via the Gnome File Browser.
Simply use ctrl+l to open/focus on the locate windown and add the address of the mount in the following format (replace <username>, <server> and <share>):
smb://<username>@<server>/<share>
Afterwards you need to add the users password to authenticate to the server.
After successful mounting the share you will see it on the left hand side of the file browser:
You can also mount shares from the Terminal. This can be done by the following command:
gio mount smb://<username>@<server>/<share>
Afterward the share will also show up in the Gnome File Browser on the left hand side. However you can also locate the mount via:
ls -l /run/user/$(id -u)/gvfs/
or via the gio command:
gio mount --list
To umount from the commandline use:
gio mount --unmount <your mount id retrieved via --list command>
