Environment Modules - environment-modules
The environment-modules package provides a module system that allows users to dynamically modify their environment (e.g., PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, etc.) by loading and unloading module files.
The environment-modules package is part of the base RHEL repository and is used in various RedHat provided solutions like developer tools and software collections. However, the version provided by RHEL is not the latest version and is not updated often.
In case you need to use a more recent version of environment-modules, you can use the package build and provided on the internal gitea server.
To access the latest packages you need to add the following repository to your system:
rpm_repos::repo::environment_modules:
ensure: 'present'
name: "environment_modules"
descr: "latest environment_modules packages ..."
baseurl: "https://gitea.psi.ch/api/packages/pmodules/rpm"
gpgcheck: false
disable: false
osversion: 9
rpm_repos::default:
- "environment_modules"
Afterwards you can install the environment-modules package as usual via dnf or hiera configuration.
!!! warning If you install the latest environment-modules package you might break other software that depends on the environment-modules package provided by RHEL. Use at your own risk!
