# Central Journal Server ( `systemd-journal-remote`) The `systemd-journal-remote` daemon allows you to collect Journal logs from multiple other source Journal instances. ## Journal Remote (server) To start [`systemd-journal-remote`](https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd-journal-remote.service.html) needs ``` journal::remote::enable: true ``` The default configuration for the directory setup where the received log is saved is ``` journal::remote::directory: '/var/log/journal/remote' journal::remote::directory::owner: 'systemd-journal-remote' journal::remote::directory::group: 'systemd-journal-remote' ``` For transport per default `http` is used, but this can also be changed to `https`: ``` journal::remote::https::enable: true journal::remote::https::key: ... journal::remote::https::cert: ... journal::remote::https::ca_chain: ... ``` ## Journal Upload (client) On the client side the service is called [`systemd-journal-upload`](https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd-journal-upload.service.html) and it is configured with ``` journal::upload::enable: true journal::upload::url: ... ``` Then there are some certificate options if required: ``` journal::upload::client_key: ... journal::upload::client_cert: ... journal::upload::server_ca: ... ```
