Each exported full carries the diffracted beam's direction in its crystal (components along the cell
vectors, from its frame's lattice); the joint input reindexes it onto the reference's axes. In a merge of
several sweeps the crystal-frame spherical-harmonic surface, cross-validated as in a single sweep, is fitted
once over all of them: a chi or kappa series measures one absorption surface from many directions.
Single-sweep merges are unchanged.
