On a CUDA build with no usable GPU (none visible to the process) molecular replacement stopped with "CUDA
(GPU) error (Failed to read the CUDA device)": each rotation and translation function call worked out its
GPU working bytes before asking whether the search runs on the GPU at all, and sizing the translation
function's cuFFT plan asks the CUDA runtime for the current device. The bytes are now taken only where
the search is on the GPU. With CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES="" a --mr run now ends as with the GPU visible
(placed by MR, AGREES); output unchanged where a GPU is used.
